“To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul. O my God, I trust in You; Let me not be ashamed; Let not my enemies triumph over me.”
Psalm 25:1–2 (NKJV)
This is be very first song the Lord put in my heart back in year 2000.[i]
I had been reading Psalm 25 that week, and as I was walking to a youth group meeting, I started signing to the Lord, thanking him for all He had done for me that season in my life. It was one of the most stressful times, as I was in my final year of high school about to graduate.
I remember sensing his sweet yet powerful presence as I was walking, and I started singing this Psalm. The amazing thing is the melody of the song came so easily, and in my spirit I could hear all the different instrumental parts. When I got to youth group worship rehearsal, I was so excited I told my friends—Dustin (bass guitarist) and Joe (lead guitarist)—that I had a new song! I sang it, and we just hit it off. That’s how this song came about.
